Abracadabra

Many of us are familiar with this word as one a stage magician would use, or just a silly word kids say when playing magick. Though the true origin of this word is still pretty much unknown. It is believed in many pagan circles to be a word of power.

It is said that this word was used in medieval times to ward off illness, misfortune and even demons. Today the Abracadabra spell or charm is used to dismiss or expel the things such as a fever. As a mother I have used this charm many times for my children. Writing it on a pice of paper in a magickal inverted triangle. With each line one of the letters is dropped off until there is nothing left.

The belief is that if you carry this with you or sleep with it, with the disappearing of the word so does that you wish to get rid of.
